I began my teaching career as a long-term substitute teacher in Santa Ana, I’m a teacher and I can’t fix crazy all I can do is document it shirt, sweater, hoodie and v-neck t-shirt. I worked in a correctional school system; the majority of my students were “gang affiliated,” and the rest were labeled as “At Risk” students. Also, most students were either emigrants from Mexico or first generation Americans; primarily, English was their second language. I respected my students and they respect me, but students being students, sometimes tested my patience. Miguel was one such student.
