I had to start practicing radical honesty with I don’t always listen to my wife but when I do things tend to work out better shirt, sweater, hoodie and v-neck t-shirt. But I did most of the disclosure in a carefully controlled environment with someone (in this case a therapist) who actually knew what they were doing. When I faced my problems -- understanding why I needed others' affirmation to take care of my pain, why that affirmation was in the form of sex, why I was filled with resentment and had gratitude for little in life and why I could not face true intimacy -- the rest of my life got a lot better, too. Not just my marriage.
