Like most people, we have been glued to our screens staring at the images of children separated from their parents Will trade racists for refugees shirt. Like many people, we listened to the harrowing recordings of children inside immigration prisons. We also know that an executive order will not keep families together. It will not stop deportations. It will not clear the children’s camps. Imprisoned and caged families do not free children make. In fact, it might make indefinitely immigration detention legal. Now is the not the time to back down but to escalate. We urge people across the country to take to the streets on June 30th at a local demonstration calling for family unity. However, it doesn’t mean what we hear and see is not threatening. It doesn’t mean I don’t grieve or get upset.
